Bryce Canyon

On Friday afternoon we headed to Bryce Canyon. This proved to be one of those unexpected beauties. Of course, knowing it's a National Park, we knew it would be something special, but in all our travels, we haven't seen anything quite like this. The canyon is filled with stone structures called hoodoos. If there is a lookout between the hoodoos, it's called a window(imagine that). We took the free shuttle bus up to the top of the park and then did some exploring on the way back down. Sidenote - this park's free shuttle bus redeemed our belief that a shuttle system can work. It was very efficient and added to our experience, especially since the RV could not stop at any of the lookouts.

At one of the stops there was a hiking loop that seemed reasonable for us to do. We wanted to trek down into the Ampitheater. It proved to be a much longer and difficult trek than we first anticipated, but we did it and the views from the bottom were awesome. Anna was the only "girl" not to complain about the journey, which is a huge accomplishment in itself. I'm thankful the Lord has increased her strength and endurance over the past couple of years.

The first couple of pictures are from Red Canyon, which is right outside the park. Deep red stone surrounds the area and it is absolutely beautiful. Pictures just can't capture the deep colors of these canyons.

Right outside of Bryce Canyon is a quaint little western town, so we had a nice dinner before getting on the road towards Zion National Park, which would be Saturday's adventure.
